Curiosity Did NOT Kill The Cat

By: Myk Laary, Press Release

    (Based on a true story)

Nobody quite knows why cats are stereotyped to be so curious.  In fact, stereotyping of this kind often gets perpetuated by the media and this need to stop, before more cats get killed.  There should be a protest against the notion about how curiosity killed the cat.  That is preposterous.  Curiosity did NOT kill the cat.  Anyone who watches Tom and Jerry can see that Tom isn’t curious.  He is just flat out arrogant, scheming, conniving, stubborn, self-aggrandizing, pompous, belligerent, greedy, lying, merciless, and every other adjective that is devoid of the notion of curiosity.

And it is this attitude that has often led to the countless licks from jerry, and probably will eventually lead to his demise.  One should note that he is wrongfully portrayed to be very strong, as he has often withstood all the beatings, smashings, squashings, shots, kicks, blows, and much more, from jerry and jerrys partners in crime.  It is cartoons of this nature that most likely led to the recent unfortunate demise of certain cat, at the mercy of the notorious pair, Z & Neeko. We will now have 5-Lines of silence for this poor but yet un-smart cat:

    1-Kitty-Silence
    2-Kitty-Silence
    3-Kitty-Silence
    4-Kitty-Silence
    5-Kitty-Silence

There have been countless episodes on Tom and Jerry with Tom harassing Butch, the bulldog.  It never mattered what the dog did to Tom.  He always dusted himself up and got back up to more mischief.  Our investigators discovered from the (late) cats’ facebook page, that she indeed loved  Tom, and she had a huge crush on Tom and aspired to be just like him when she grew up.

She especially loved the episodes where he harassed Butch the bulldog, and most likely felt that she would be just as immune to licks just as Tom was.  Sources say that she repeatedly taunted Z and Neeko from the high fence dividing them for weeks;  She would stick her tongue out at them, run along the fence, steal their food when they were sleeping, and was even rumored to have left a sample of cat lemonade in their drinking water. But then her luck ran out on that fateful night when she appeared to have slipped and fell into their yard, while she was trying to tease them by dancing gangnam style on the fence.

We managed to interview an eyewitness;  The neighborhood watchman, Navilicous Broadbottom, who gave this account on what happened that fateful night: “Well, I was walking around to go get me a cold beer…..Then I thought a cat was screaming.  I said OHH LORD JEEZUS IT’S A MURDAH!! Then I raaaaaaaan away.   I didn’t grab no shoes or nothing  jeezus…I RAAAAN!!  I ran for my life and then my emotions got me……….I GOT ANXIETY!!!!..............AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR DAT!!!”.  It is clear to see that he has been spending too much time on youtube, as his recount sounded eerily close to Sweet Browns’ interview after her house caught on fire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nh7UgAprdpM).

He went on to say “Well, obviously we have CAT KILLERS in Basseterre.  They are sitting down in their yards, waiting for yo catz, trying to eat them, so y’all need to hide your kittens, hide your catz,  and hide your stuffed catz too ‘cos they’re killin all catz out here”  Once again, more evidence that our eyewitness spends way too much time on youtube; you can judge for yourself (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEAKsaQOCpQ)

We would like to advocate against cats and kittens watching Tom and Jerry on Cartoon Network.  This type of influence is extremely dangerous for them.  Instead, encourage them to watch Sylvester and Tweety or even Coyote and Roadrunner.  They provide the same level of entertainment, without the bad influence.  Failure to adhere can lead to some dire consequences for your feline pets.

Remember that Z and Neeko are extremely legged and dangerous and they need to be respected for who they are: Kingpins of the Greenlands Neighborhood.  Dogz Rule!!  (Go Z!  Go Neeko!) And as for cats, continue to remain curious.  You won't be killed.  Curiosity did NOT kill the cat.  It is another word that rhymes with “curiosity”, that killed the cat.  Curious??
