ROADTOWN Tortola BVI, February 6th, 2013   --  The Ministry of Communications and Works is in the process of addressing challenges with the Georgy Hill Road project so that motorists and pedestrians can begin to benefit from this development.

“Once completed motorists and pedestrians will derive many benefits such as  sidewalks on both sides of the road, the widening of the road which will allow two lanes of traffic to flow comfortably, adequate drainage, and a well lit road,”  Acting Permanent Secretary, Mr. Gary Penn told the Department of Information and Public Relations.

Mr. Penn explained that the project is currently stalled due to issues surrounding lands required to make the modification, but made assurance that Ministry officials are working hard to ensure these matters are resolved as quickly as possible.

“We want to apologise for the lag in the project, however, when completed it will be well worth the wait.  We are appealing for motorists and pedestrians to continue to have patience with us as we continue to develop our road networks,” the acting permanent secretary appealed.

The works that began in late November of 2012 is designed to widen portions of the roadway, re-profile the road, in order to decrease its steepness and improve drainage issues in the area.

The Ministry of Communications and Works is committed to improving the Territory’s public infrastructure.
