Joycelyn Liburd Primary School winners of the 2013 Nisbet Plantation Beach Club Tourism Quiz

    CHARLESTOWN Nevis, February 6th, 2013  --  Joycelyn Liburd Primary School emerged winners for the second consecutive year of the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club Primary Schools quiz after a keenly contested tie breaker round of questions with the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School.  The St. James Primary School was the third place winners.

     

    Students representing the winning schools were Thalia Dore and Anel Ferguson of the Joycelyn Liburd Primary;  Britney Simmonds and Zhara Jones the Elizabeth Pemberton Primary; Aliya Sampson and Zario Chumney the St. James’ Primary School.

     

    The other schools and student participants were Akeem Walters and Adessa Farrell Ivor Walters Primary; Chylon Caines and Belinda Clarke Charlestown Primary; Kyla Seabrookes and Kelly Zheng Maude Crosse Preparatory; Ajuma Liburd and Sherquanya Jeffers Violet O., Jeffers Nicholls Primary, Adiel Chowtipersad and Shamar Guishard Bellevue International Primary School; Ercha Stapleton and Dahlia Slack St. Thomas’ Primary.

     


    Students participating in the quiz were asked three categories of questions; Cultural Heritage, Geography/Environment and Caribbean Tourism. The quiz announcers were Mr. Antonio Liburd, Ms. Claudia Walwyn and Mr. Eric Evelyn.

     

    During the opening ceremony that preceded the quiz the Honourable Vance Amory, Premier and Minister of Education and the Honourable Mark Brantley, Minister of  Tourism addressed the audience on the vital role tourism plays to the economic and social development of  Nevis.

     

    Other officials in attendance were Mr. Carl Williams Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Mrs. Ellen Grant from the Department of Education and officials from the Nevis Tourism Authority. Mr. Andrew Hall, General Manager of Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, presented prizes to the participants and winners.

     

    The quiz was hosted by the Nevis Island Administration Ministry of Tourism.
