Uprisers takes the win and Hitters forfeits first game
BASSETERRE St. Kitts, February 7th, 2013 - The National Bank Bird Rock Uprisers won their first game of the 2013 SKNABA Junior Division season 65 – 61 beating the 2012 third (3rd) place team, Molinuex Strivers Jrs.
Jared Clarke Point Guard, scored 20 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 7 steals his team mate Gieyon Pemberton scored 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, hitting three (3) impressive 3 point shots, the first being the game opener. Recent transfer Zavia Adams formerly of Rams Hitters Jrs. averaged 37 points a game during the regular season of the 2012 Junior Division League; tonight Adams scored 21 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block.
His performance was closely observed by coaches and fans of the Junior Division; the sentiment is that his move to Bird Rock Uprisers may affect his 2013 scoring average as his style of play may have to be tweaked to fit in with his new team.
Molinuex Strivers Jrs. also have some transitions to make as Point Guard Shackiel “Cheese” Bedford and Center Livan Lee have both aged out of the Junior Division, leaving the 2013 Center Cuthbert Charles and Point Guard Te’Andre Chapman to step up to the records their former team mates attained last year.
Top Scorers for Molinuex Strivers Jrs. are Te’Andre Chapman 25 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steal, Cuthbert Charles 14 points, 21 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 10 blocks and Clairvorn Kelly 6 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 blocks. With a four (4) point difference fans are eager to see the other junior teams in their upcoming games.
Games continue on Saturday 9th February, game 1 Achievers Sports Club Jay Hawks (formerly Blue Devils Jrs.) vs. Kajola Kristada McKnight Trotters Jrs. and game 2 iRep Challengers Exodus Jrs. vs. Development Bank Ballers, on Sunday 10th February, game 1 National Bank Bird Rock Uprisers vs. Rams Hitters Jrs. and game 2 Kajola Kristada McKnight Trotters Jrs. vs. Rams Sandy Point Fruta Falcons Jrs. Games start promptly at 6:30 p.m.
In other news Rams Hitters Jrs. unfortunately forfeited the first game of the season to Rams Sandy Point Fruta Falcons Jrs. Coach Sean ‘Bucksy’ Crossley was anxious to play the starting game of the season as he as well as other coaches would like to see the performance of their new young basketball teams; like other teams in the Junior Division, Fruta Falcons has also lost players due to the required age limit.
