Labour ticket or not, I am contesting the next elections…says Condor

The Hon. Sam T. Condor
By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – PARLIAMENTARY Representative for Constituency Number Three (West Basseterre), the Hon. Sam Condor has stated unequivocally that whether it is on a St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) ticket or not, he would be contesting the Federation’s next general elections.

Condor has served the people of West Basseterre for in excess of two decades and, as of late, has encountered serious difficulty with segments of that constituency calling for his removal as their Parliamentary Representative.

The calls – according to reports – stem from Condor’s and Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas’ strained and deteriorating relationship, Condor outspoken stance on certain government-sponsored initiatives and also his recent resignation from Dr. Douglas’ Cabinet.

Condor – who expressed to SKNVibes his commitment to his constituents and country – informed that once he has life and is in good health, he would be contesting the next general elections whenever they are called.

“Of course! I am available to serve the people of West Basseterre.”

Asked specifically if he would be running as an independent candidate, Condor replied, “Well I don’t know…We are still waiting. It seems as though the Labour Party is trying to recruit other contenders but, whatever happens, I will be contesting the elections in West Basseterre. I’ll be contesting that is for sure…God’s willing, once I am alive and well.”

The Parliamentary Representative explicated that his conscience and love for his country would not allow him to forgo contesting the elections

“Politics is about commitment and loyalty to a cause and to the country. And it is as a result of my loyalty to my constituents and my country in general. I have a role to play, I have a contribution to make and I want to offer.”

He said, “I believe our country needs all the support and contribution that everybody can make at this time. And I feel like my experience and my capacity and capability of making a contribution to the country at this time, this challenging time, can be of use to the country.”
