Kwando (Stennett Harvey) is a 47 year old farmer, bee specialist und spiritual healer from the Caribbean island of St. Kitts.

23 years ago Kwando lost his left leg in an uncaused motorcycle accident. Holding a black belt in Taekwondo, he picked up his training right after his limb loss. He did not receive financial compensation or therapeutic support. Facing his traumatic experience, Kwando retreated to his farm under the volcano bordering the rain forest. Kwando taught himself how to walk on his crutches in order to perform labor intensive work on his farm. He soon mounted his horse and the donkeys again. Kwando had no contact with humans for three months. He meditated, prayed and became a Rasta.

For 23 years, Kwando has been dependent on his crutches. He walks up and down the mountain to get to his farm every day, where he is currently working in an organic project involving youth of the village and volunteers from abroad.

The well-established prosthetics company Hanger Co. has donated a prosthetic leg that would suit Kwando’s farm work in the hills. Kwando and his friends have started to raise the funds for the socket fitting, the travel expenses including visa to get the leg, and an additional trip for a checkup or emergency.

Please help Kwando get his leg and contribute. Kwando is physically able and an active member of society with strong charisma. Still, he needs your support. As the prosthetics expert said: “Kwando is fit enough to adjust to prosthesis, but while walking on crutches, he is constantly overstressing his heart.”

    Thank you for your support!
