BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - PAULA COLLINS, wife of St. Kitts-Nevis’ sprint icon Kim Collins, has spoken out on his recent arrest in Nevis.

Calling into WINN FM's daily talk show ‘Voices’, Paula spoke passionately about Kim's recent arrest for allegedly owing child support and revealed what transpired while he was being transported from the Vance Amory International Airport in Nevis.

Paula claimed that the vehicle within which her husband travelled after being arrested “crashed head on in Nevis with Kim in the car, almost killing him...”

She stated that the vehicle was being driven by a police officer and that following its collision with another vehicle, the officers did not seek medical assistance for her husband

“After they [police] took him out of the airport, it was as if there was a bad thing in the air because as a police officer you know that Nevis does not have that amount of traffic at that time of the day, what were you doing that you are going to have a head on collision with somebody?

“He [Kim] has made St. Kitts a force to be reckoned with.  So, if you are taking someone like that - he is innocent until proven guilty - and you are going to crash into a car and never ask him if he is okay, get him any medical [assistance] - anything?”

SKNVibes investigated these claims which were confirmed by a police official that the vehicle carrying Kim did collide with another last Thursday (Feb. 7) while he was being transported from the airport.

With regards to Kim having to appear in the Magistrate's Court in St. Kitts, Paula explained that arrangements were made to ensure that monies for maintenance were made while he is overseas.

“We have two lawyers signed in the Magistrate’s Court that says they have the responsibility that if Kim is not on the island the child support will be paid. Why Kim was pulled outside of the airport and tried to be disgraced in that way? Nobody understands.”

When asked her thoughts on the reason for her husband’s ill treatment, Paula expressed that persons may be envious of him.

“Envy! A jealous set of people who are not trying to find out what is going on. The police seem to be one-sided, the Court system seem to be a mess, because he keeps going to a Court that has not given him any rights.

“Imagine the same people that had him in Court went in his car to pull his own child out of his car. And when Kim went to Court with them, the police lied in Court, the baby mother lied in Court, the husband lied in Court and Kim was still found guilty. A system like that I just don’t understand.”

Paula expressed that while St. Kitts may have many people who truly care for Kim, there are others who do not have good intentions for him, and it is their voices being heard and their actions seen.

Sprint icon Kim was arrested in Nevis last Thursday at the Vance Amory International Airport for allegedly not making adequate arrangement to support his children while overseas.

Kim was reported by another media house as saying he did not owe any child support and had receipts to show he was not in arrears, as well as documents to prove that he had put measures in place for payments to be made.

SKNVibes understands that the Court had ordered that amendments be made to one of the documents which was done and that Kim was allowed to travel after sureties were again identified to make the required payments if he failed to do so.
