BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AN autopsy performed on the body of 30-year-old motorcyclist Lesford ‘Wifey’ Ryan found that he had died as a result of “traumatic shock”, following yesterday’s (Feb. 9) accident on the Long Path in Fig Tree.

In a press release issued today (Feb. 10), Head of the Traffic Department Inspector Carl Caines publicised the post mortem findings.

Reportedly, the autopsy, carried out today, was performed by resident pathologist Dr. Dora Marina Magdoriaja “who concluded that death was caused by traumatic shock due to road accident”.

Ryan, who was a resident of Bourkes Project in Sandy Point, died after he lost control of the motorcycle (P4331) he was test driving, which reportedly caused him to run into a drain on the western side of the road and collide with an electrical pole.

Inspector Caines is reminding motorists of their “responsibility to always exercise care and caution when using the road and drive according to the speed limit that is applicable to the road”.

Users of motorcycles are also being reminded of using head gears.

Speaking with Inspector Caines, he informed this media house that the speed limits in the Federation are 40 miles per hour for the non-built-up areas and 20 miles per hour in residential and built-up areas.

Ryan, a Montserratian by birth, was the father of a five-year old girl. SKNVibes was reliably informed that he, along with his mother, migrated to St. Kitts following the 1995 volcanic eruption in their homeland.

The Traffic Department continues its investigations into the accident.
