BASSETERRE St. Kitts, February 12th, 2013 -- Under the theme, “Touching Lives – Making A Difference” The Industrial Site Day Care began a week of activities to celebrate its 20th Anniversary.
The institution which caters primarily to parents employed as factory workers at the Industrial Site, opened its doors on February 15, 1993.
The Center is the largest government run Day Care on the island with a current enrollment of 140 children from birth -5 years old supported by a staff of 36 including domestic workers, gardeners, nursery care givers, and pre-school teachers.
The anniversary celebrations began on Sunday, February 10 with, staff, parents, and children participating in corporate worship at the Zion Moravian Church, Basseterre. The institution observed Community Outreach Day on Monday with the presentation of food baskets to the elderly by staff and children.
A high light of the week will be the recognition of long serving employees. Miss. Jsmin Wilson and Ms. Shondi Mills will receive awards for serving the Center from its inception while thirteen other employees will be recognized for having worked at the Industrial Site Day Care for over 10 years.
The curtains will come down on the 20th anniversary celebrations with the staging of the Miss. KDI Pageant on Friday, February 22 on the school grounds.
