BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT is all about music for one of the twin sons of the Federation’s Ambassador-designate to the US and Permanent Representative to the Organisation of American States in Washington, DC, Jacinth Henry-Martin, who is also a former Minister of Sports in the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Government.

Yanick Martin recently graduated with a Diploma in Audio Engineering from the SAE Institute of Technology in Manhattan, New York, and gained the third highest pass rate out of a class of 25 students.

SAE Institute of Technology is a school that offers a Diploma in Audio Engineering and provides Audio Engineers with all the practical and theoretical training needed to function effectively in a studio environment, or in a live sound environment.

“Both my twin Quinn and I completed our Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Music (Music Business) at the University of Westminster in London in 2011. So I followed up with a Diploma in Audio Engineering at SAE Institute of Technology,” Martin said

Present at his graduation, which took place on January 18, was his mother and brother Quinn.

The course was of an intense nine-month duration he explained.

“It was a very good, yet time-demanding experience. Basically, if you didn't study you didn't do well, because most of the information was new to us as students, even if you had experience in Audio Engineering like I did.

“Many nights I literally left school at two in the morning and got home at almost three in the morning. I definitely spent a lot of cold nights on the train ride uptown, but clearly it paid off.”

Now officially equipped to work in the music industry, the sound official and former Underground artiste who has also produced for a number of local artistes, said that the sky is now the limit.

“I've already started working with a few artistes in the music industry and have been on tours to Daddy's House, which is Diddy's Studio (BadBoy Records), tours to Sterling Sound, which is a major Mastering Studio in New York, as well as toured the well known Quad Studios where the late Tupac Shakur was shot.

“It's important for me to note that my twin brother Quinn is equally a part of my progress, as I've shared all of my knowledge I've obtained with him. We work together in the Industry and will possibly be starting a company of our own in the near future. Also, recording is still in full effect, so you can still look forward to some good music.”

When asked if he ever thought about getting into the political arena, Martin said that his focus was on his music.

“Music and entertainment is my focus at the moment. People ask me that all the time but I think I’m doing great in the music industry right now,” he said.
