PM Douglas hopes Four Seasons Resort will return to normalcy soon

Prime Minister Douglas accompanied by the Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry toured several areas on Nevis affected by the passage of Hurricane Omar.

“We have to wait and see the full assessment of the damage to the Four Seasons. One thing that was very, very clear when we toured with the general manager, is that he had quite a bit of hope and expressed the desire for the management to get back the hotel as quickly as possible to a state of normalcy,” said Prime Minister Douglas at a post tour press conference.

“I am sure that during the period that they may be out of service, I believe that they are creative enough to find alternative ways by which the staff can be employed and so we wait the final word from the Four Seasons as to how we will move forward,’ said Prime Minister Douglas in response to a question from the St. Kitts and Nevis Observer reporter that the closure of the hotel will result in hardship for the employees.

Dr. Douglas both the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration are willing to work with the management to see how quickly the Four Seasons Resort can return to a state of normalcy and that Premier Parry and the Four Seasons officials are to meet this week to discuss matters.

Premier Parry said he does not expect the employees of the resort to be sent home. 

“Four Seasons will find a way to employ the workers part of the time. All of the villas are in very good condition and as the Prime Minister said, we will wait. We are hopeful, we are optimistic that things will happen. 

In addition to that Nevisians are very creative and I do not anticipate any serious problems. We will find ways and means of doing things on the island,” said the Nevis Premier.

The management of the Four Seasons Resort said it was assessing the damage to the property with a tentative re-opening date of November 1.  ~~Adz:Left~~
