Nevis Humane Society’s fundraiser to benefit local Veterinary clinic

    CHARLESTOWN Nevis, February 14th, 2013   -- The Nevis Humane Society invites all to a major event dubbed, “The Taste of Nevis JumpUp”,aimed at raising  funds to obtain  the much-needed medical diagnostic equipment for the local Prospect Veterinary Clinic. 

     

    This equipment will enable the Clinic to better diagnose and treat a broad range of symptoms and medical conditions for all kinds of animals according to a press statement circulated by the Charity.

     

    This unique event is to be held on Thursday, February21st from 7:00 PM to 11PM at the popular Chrishi Beach Bar Restaurant at Cades Bay, which has generously donated their facility.

     

    Fancy finger food prepared and donated by the beautiful Plantation Inns of Nevis,The Four Seasons and some of the great local restaurants will entice your tastebuds. Lively dance music, provided by “Jack & the Rippers”, the celebrated multinational band of Oualie fame, fronted by Per Lindfors and Jack Kartush with members of their respective bands in Ireland and the US, as well as local musician Snowflake, will keep you dancing ‘til you drop.

     

    The charity encourages  everyone to join in the fun and to dance the night away with good friends and fellow animal lovers. Price of admission will be $50 EC per person; $75 EC percouple with a Cash Bar.

     

    Additional pledge donations for specific priority equipment will be most welcome and will significantly upgrade the Clinic’s facilities, capacity and services to the community at large.

     

    Dues for ARK membership are:  $50EC for single person; $100EC for Family; $250EC for CorporateMembership and $25EC for Youth (up 10 12 yrs.) Anyone who has not yet renewed their ARK membership for 2013, or who would like to become a member, or who would like to make an additional contribution to the betterment of the Prospect Veterinary Clinic can send their contributions to:

    Ark board of directors for the year 2013 are the President, Bonnie Berlinghof, Treasurer, Richard Lupinacci. Board members are Clara Walters,Ambrose James, Babs Ewing, Carol Williams and Karen Koch.

     

    The ARK Board meets once a month with minutes recorded and a monthly financial report given.  At the end of the year, a complete financial report is drawn up and decisions are presented and voted upon to determine the following year’s goals for the organization. 

     

    These include:

     

    A capital fundraising campaign to source or purchase much-needed diagnostic equipment and other medical and animal supplies to upgrade and improve the service capacity of the local Prospect Veterinary Clinic.  ARK proposes to pledgeup to 50% of its savings to make the necessary improvements and purchases to significantly upgrade the Clinic, with funds to be matched by other entities;

     

    The continuation year-round of the Spay & Neuter Campaign of cats and dogs island-wide with financial assistance given to families of low income who are in need;

     

    Conduct two fundraising events this year and participate in the yearly Agricultural Fair in March to raise awareness and distribute thousands of information leaflets to school children and adults on the best ways to protect and care for their house pets, domestic herds, and other animals, such as donkeys and horses.  Children are encouraged to participate in the dog training and grooming demos at the ARK Booth, and to pass out literature to their school friends and parents.

     

    To assist in the rescue of abandoned and injured dogs and cats, sheep, goats, donkeys and horses,  and to provideneeded medical treatment and nourishmentfor them, as well as for rescued puppies and kittens.  And to find permanent or foster homes for them.

     

    ARK annual membership dues in 2013 are as follows EC$50 for individual membership, EC$100 for family membership, EC250 for corporate membership, and EC$25 for youth membership.
