BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – DELEGATES from 53 Commonwealth member states are now in Barbados attending the Eighth Commonwealth Association for Public Administration Management (CAPAM) Biennial Conference.

According to Caribbean Net News, CAPAM is an international non-profit association established in 1994 to facilitate the exchange of information and public knowledge on public administration among Commonwealth countries and beyond. Since its inception, CAPAM has grown to a network of over 1,100 members across Commonwealth countries.

Opening remarks were delivered by CAPAM President Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi and Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Secretariat Ransford Smith.

The feature address was delivered by Sen. Arni Walters, Barbadian Minister of State in the Ministry of Labour and Civil Service, who noted that the sharing of information and ideas at the conference would be useful in terms of translating into strategies and programmes that would be beneficial to the countries which they represent.

The three-day conference ends on Wednesday and features discussion topics on subjects including Raising the Standard: Promoting Actions/Behaviours and Programmes to achieve Public Service Excellence; Making Further Strides: New Governance for New Times; and Upward and Onward: Enhancing Management and Institutional Capability.

This is the first time that a CAPAM conference is being held in the Caribbean.  ~~Adz:Right~~
