CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – SUPERINTENDENT Samuel Seabrookes, Head of the Nevis Division of the Royal St.
Christopher and Nevis Police Force, has confirmed that 42 illegal immigrants are in custody at the Charlestown Police Station and the Ministry of
National Security is making arrangements for them to leave the island. ~~Adz:Right~~

Seabrookes, during a telephone interview, told SKNVibes that stakeholders held a meeting this morning at the Nevis Island Administration offices in Bath Plains over the illegal immigrants.

A senior immigration official from St. Kitts attended the crisis meeting and according to Sergeant Alonzo Carty, there are 42 males and females including two children in police custody.

Seabrookes told this media house that preliminary investigation revealed that the immigrants were not destined for St. Kitts and Nevis, and unconfirmed reports state that they were destined for another island.

He said the vessel in which they were travelling was apparently shipwrecked on reaching Long Point and they were found by the police on Sunday.

Superintendent Seabrookes said most the majority of the immigrants are from Haiti while the others are from Cuba and Peru.
