BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THREE men will be serving in excess of 10 years at Her Majesty’s prison (HMP), while two others were given suspended sentences and a woman from Newtown is among three individuals arrested for various crimes they allegedly committed.
A police press release stated that Shaweed Williams of Fry’s Village recently appeared in the Basseterre High Court and pleaded guilty to being found by night with implements of house breaking.
He was sentenced to seven years imprisonment, but due to his guilty plea the sentence was reduced by a third and he would instead serve four years and eight months at HMP.
Leroy Boone of Sandy Point also appeared at the same Court charged with House breaking and larceny. He, too, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months imprisonment. But, like Williams, his sentence was reduced due to his guilty plea and two years were taken off.
The judge was however somewhat lenient with Steve Percival and Kevorn Gaskin, both of New Road, who were found guilty of house breaking and larceny.
Both of them were given suspended sentences and released from prison on Friday (Feb. 15) under the condition that if they commit any offence and are convicted and the sentence exceeds six months, they would be taken back to the Court by any police officer and be sentenced accordingly.
And at the Magistrate’s Court, Terrance ‘Donkey’ Casey of Salt Pond Alley was convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment for larceny; an offence he committed between February 10 and 11, 2013.
The press release also stated that Sylvia Viola Weekes of East Street, Newtown was charged with simple larceny; an offence she allegedly committed on Tuesday (Feb. 12) and would soon be appearing at the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charge.
Also, Elmond Wilson of Cabbage Tree Housing was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply. The offences were allegedly committed on Saturday (Feb. 16).
And Randolph Drew of Gibbons, Dieppe Bay was charged with possession of cannabis. He allegedly committed the offence on Tuesday (Feb. 12).
They, too, would soon be appearing in Court to answer to their charges.
