BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – RESIDENTS of Challengers were awakened last night to the screeching sound of brakes and the crunch of metal when a mini bus crashed into a stationary vehicle in the vicinity of the ghaut.

The accident, which occurred at about 11:45 p.m., involved a Nissan car P6160, owned by Denvil Kelly of Cayon, and a government-owned mini bus (PA4613) attached to the Joseph N. France General Hospital and driven by Lennis Dickinson of Stone Fort.

According to Dickinson, he was driving from Basseterre to Sandy Point when he turned a corner and noticed a dog on the road.

Dickenson explained that he swerved to avoid hitting the dog, but in the attempt the bus collided with the stationary P6160 causing the vehicle to crash into and demolish a part of the concrete wall near to which it was parked.

The force of the collision sent the bus into the bushes on the opposite side of the road, mere feet away from the edge of a cliff.

SKNVibes has learnt that no injuries were reported, as no one was in P6160 when the accident occurred.

The full extent of the damage to both vehicles is unknown, although it was observed that there was some degree of damage to the right front fender and the right exterior of the bus, while both fenders and the bonnet of Kelly’s car were extensively damaged.
