BELMOPAN, Belize – TROPICAL DEPRESSION number 16 brought persistent rains to Belize over the past weekend and caused water levels not seen since Hurricane Greta in 1978.

According to Caribbean Net News, residents were forced to move to shelters, as bridges were submerged and roads became impassable.

The Cayo District was flooded while the Iguana Creek Bridge was completely submerged and the Roaring Creek Bridge was only accessible by heavy vehicles. Consequently, communities in the area were cut off.

Government officials are currently trying to assess the damage caused by the floods.  ~~Adz:Right~~
