BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A juvenile of Fort Thomas Road, Basseterre is currently on trial for the murder of 28-year-old Jermaine Browne.
Browne, a construction worker of Conaree Village, was killed execution-style north of East Park Range and Park Street on the morning of Thursday, April 19, 2012.
The trial began yesterday morning (Feb. 26) with Acting Director of Public Prosecution Rhonda Nisbett-Browne leading the prosecution and the juvenile being represented by Attorney-at-Law Chesley Hamilton.
The prosecution would be calling eight witnesses to assist in their case as they try to prove that shortly before 7:00 a.m. on the said date, the 17-year-old did murder Browne in the vicinity of National Housing Corporation while he was on his way to work.
Four witnesses have already given evidence, including the victim's mother Melvina Martin, who testified to the last time she saw her son alive; Dr. Stephen Jones, who revealed the findings of the post mortem; and Dr. Mervin Laws who pronounced Browne dead at the scene.
After the prosecution team rests its case, the accused would have the opportunity to give evidence and or call witnesses to testify on his behalf.
The case continues today (Feb. 27) with the prosecution calling on witness number five.
