BASSETERRE St. Kitts, Febuary 27th 2013 - On Sunday 24, and Monday 25 February 2013, consumers from Saddlers to Newton Ground as well as those from The Village west to Sandy Point were faced with consecutive interruptions in their electricity supply.
SKELEC deeply apologises for these interruptions that were caused by faults in the field. However, we will carry out further investigations as we strive to assure all consumers that these outages are top priority and we are doing everything to continue to provide our consumers with reliable electricity service even in light of recent disruptions.
At approximate 4:57 pm on Monday 25th there was a vehicular accident which caused major damage to utility poles in Conaree Village. This accident resulted to loss of electricity to consumers in Conaree, Half Moon, Canada and Molineaux. SKELEC emergency crews worked throughout the night to restore electricity supply to the area, and return in the morning to complete the work.
At 5:50 a.m. today Tuesday 26th there was a loss in electricity supply to consumers from St. Paul’s to Newton Ground and consumers in Conaree lost electricity service at 8:02 a.m.
Both disruptions were as a result of faults in the field and SKELEC has been working audaciously at reducing the disruptions faced by our consumers. We have been able to restore electricity to all areas and would like to let consumers know that we will continue to work at providing them with the reliable and safe electricity service.
SKELEC thanks all consumers who supported the emergency crews over the past four (4) days while they worked at restoring the electricity to affected areas. As a Company we know how important it is to work with the community and appreciate when our consumers work along-side us in helping us achieve our goals.
