Basseterre, St. Kitts (May 26, 2005): A cultural group from St. Kitts and Nevis will take part in celebrations to commemorate the official opening of the new home of the Norman Aviation Flight Training Academy in Antigua.
The Jingle Bells String Band, considered by many to be one of the most vibrant performers of the art form, departed the Federation on Thursday to attend the ceremony.
An official from the Department of Culture noted that an all-inclusive invitation, which covered funding for this venture, was extended to the ten-member group by the organising committee in Antigua.
That request was readily embraced by the department, which taps every available avenue to promote the various folklore groups.
The Jingle Bells String Band promised to live up to its favorable reputation during its stay in Antigua and extended gratitude to the Department of Culture for its support as well as to sponsors Brimstone Hill Fortress and National Park.
The folklore group is due back in St. Kitts on Friday.
