                                      Fire Officers Trained in Operating Rescue Equipment

    Mr. Mike Toeneboehn, Regional Sales Manager of Holmatro, Inc. explaining to officers of the Fire and Rescue Service Department the functions of the Holmatro Rescue Equipment (Jaws of Life).   The equipment was recently purchased for the department to aid in their rescue operations
    Roadtown, Tortola - Officers at the Fire and Rescue Services Department sharpened their skills in operating rescue equipment at a one-day training course held yesterday at the Fire and Rescue Services Department.

     

    The training course was held to teach the officers how to use the new Holmatro Rescue Equipment (Jaws of Life) that was recently purchased for the department.

     

    Mr. Mike Toeneboehn, Regional Sales Manager of Holmatro, Inc., which is located in Maryland, USA facilitated the training and commissioned the equipment.

     

    He told the Department of Information and Public Relations the Jaws of Life are hydraulic rescue tools designed to extricate victims from a motor vehicle after an accident.

     

    Acting Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Mr. William Penn said the addition of the new equipment will give fire fighters the vital tools needed to better serve

    “The equipment makes quick and concise cuts into a motor vehicle, which allows rescue personnel to access the victims and administer life saving techniques,” Mr. Penn said.

     

    Mr. Penn added that the Ministry of Communications and Works was instrumental in the purchase of the new equipment and thanked the Ministry for its continued support and commitment not only with the purchase of equipment but their training needs as well.

     

    The mission of the Fire and Rescue Service Department is to save and protect lives and to minimise damage to property by preventing and extinguishing fires.
