BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, OCTOBER 23RD 2008 (CUOPM) – Scores of residents from Old Road to Half Way Tree joined Mr. Glenn “Ghost” Phillip in assisting fellow villagers who were affected by Hurricane Omar.

Led by Phillip, the villages were assisted in removing tons of debris and boulders deposited in their homes and on their properties by the powerful waves of Hurricane Omar, which passed St. Kitts and Nevis as a Category Three storm last week Wednesday.

“We felt the need to show the spirit of helping those who were less fortunate and suffered as a result of Hurricane Omar,” said Phillip, who expressed thanks and appreciation to the scores of fellow residents from the community, who turned out in their numbers to give a helping hand.

“I do not know how I would have been able to get my surroundings clear without the help of these me and Mr. Phillip,” said one woman.

“We are looking forward to his assistance and that of the Prime Minister in helping us to move from this area and re-start our lives again,” said a man, who indicated that in 1999 following the passage of Hurricane Lenny, he declined the offer of the government to relocate.

On the imitative of Phillip, the governing Labour Party’s candidate for Constituency Four – Challengers to New Guinea – scores of residents worked long hours over the past few days to assist those affected by Hurricane Omar.
