Shots fired at Minister Jeffers’ Office…no one injured

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – RUMOURS that the office of Minister in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) the Hon. Alexis Jeffers was shot at were confirmed by Premier of Nevis the Hon. Vance Amory. And while he gave no details about the incident, he has spoken out against the “senseless act”.

According to information reaching this publication – albeit sketchy – the Administration Building that houses Jeffers’ office was shot at some time last evening (Mar. 1). SKNVibes also understands that the Hon. Minister was at a meeting on the premises when the incident occurred.

Thankfully – however – he sustained no injury.

SKNVibes made several attempts to contact the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Officer - Inspector Lyndon David and Head of the Nevis Division Assistant Commissioner of Police Robert Liburd but all attempts were futile.

However, in a brief interview with SKNVibes, Premier Amory indicated that this sort of delinquent behaviour must end.

“This incident is really a sad reflection on where we’ve come over the last six and a half years and it is regrettable and it really has to stop…it has to be stopped. The police clearly would do all that they have to do to find the person who committed that senseless act and I’m sure that they will find the person.

“I think we need all of us in St. Kitts and Nevis to pray very, very earnestly because we do not want our country to go any further into the mire of criminality which is going to hamper our progress and create difficulty for all of us.”

He said the building that was shot at is the original Government Headquarters which was vacated in the early 2000s to allow for repairs, and that it currently houses the Health Offices.
