BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE rumour mill churned today producing reports that a Conaree man was either stabbed or shot, and that he had even lost his life as a result.
SKNVibes’ investigations have disproven those rumours and discovered that the man was involved in a vehicle accident.
Conaree entrepreneur Gabriel Thomas was riding his bicycle along the Frigate Bay Road early this morning (Mar. 2) when he was reportedly struck from behind by a motorcar.
SGT Calvin Amory of the Traffic Department informed this publication that the incident occurred sometime around 7:15 am.
He indicated that according to the information which they gathered, Ludis Francis of Pond Road, Newtown was driving directly behind Thomas in her vehicle, P6305. He said she explained that while driving, the glare of the sun impeeded her vision and not realising that she was as close as she was, she struck him.
Thomas was rushed to the Joseph N. France General Hospital via the Emergency Medical Services and this publication has confirmed that he has since been released.
The motorcar sustained minimal damage, its driver escaped the incident unscathed and the frame and rear wheel of the bicycle were damaged.
The SGT informed that notice of intended prosecution was served to Francis.
Thomas – entrepreneur of Express Auto Rental – in speaking with this media house, confirmed that he was released from the hospital but said he was experiencing pain at the bottom of his spine.
So severe is the pain that he has considerable difficulty standing or even lying down.
He said he is scheduled to return to the hospital on Monday (Mar. 4) where an x-ray would be performed to ascertain whether or not his spine is damaged.
Concerning rumours which suggested that Thomas was the victim of a shooting or stabbing incident, he expressed to SKNVibes that not only is he very much alive but, “I was not stabbed, shot or involved in any incident of that sort.”
Prior to speaking with Thomas, this publication had contacted Commissioner of Police Celvin 'CG' Walwyn, who informed that no such report had reached the police.
