BASSETERRE, St Kitts – TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO defeated Leeward Islands by 120 runs at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium in their Regional Four-Day Championship game.
Chasing 335 for victory on the final day, Leeward Islands began the day on 42 for 2 with Captain Sylvester Joseph at the crease alongside Orlando Peters.
The pair went on to build a solid partnership for the home side before Joseph departed for 39.
Devon Thomas then joined Peters at the wicket and showed his class with a flurry of boundaries before he was dismissed shortly before lunch to the disgust of many Leeward Islands’ fans at the Stadium.
Peters departed for 45, following the luncheon interval, and some short resistance followed by Tonito Willet and Jamar Hamilton.
The departure of Hamilton signalled the end for the Leeward Islands team as a late order collapse just before tea saw the Trinidadians and Tobagonians sealing victory.
