BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Scores of eager job-seekers turned up at the Royal St. Kitts Marriott Resort for the hotel’s October 22-23 job fair which was organized by the company’s Human Resource Department.

Public Relations Manager Laverne Stevens explained that the job fair was in preparation for the 2008-2009 tourism season which starts next month. She added that the resort tries to be as prepared as possible to ensure everyone understands their duties and the hotel’s expectations, so that “everybody is on the same page”.

“We have an orientation process where they will go through two days of training.

We also have another training programme called Passport to Success from which we saw over 300 persons graduating last year. All these are things we use to ensure that everyone is made aware of their roles.”

“Between yesterday and today, we’ve had tremendous response. A lot of persons, perhaps more than 400, have been here trying to get all the information organized.

So we are very happy for that. We’ve also had overwhelming support from the community, a lot of persons interested in working here came over, and we are very happy. We want to thank St. Kitts and Nevis for the support that the community is showing us with all the persons who have come to apply.”

Stevens informed that although the two-day fair is geared toward giving persons an opportunity to be part of the Marriott family, the company will still have its usual open house every Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoons where persons can apply in person.

She further stated that there are many opportunities available in almost every area of the resort ranging from finance to engineering, and said the company is warmly welcoming competent individuals.

The Public Relations Manager highlighted that the job fair marks the Marriott’s significant contribution toward the education and advancement of the people of the Federation as the fair was symbolically scheduled during Tourism Awareness Month.  ~~Adz:Left~~
