BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ALTHOUGH no autopsy was performed on the body of the late Osaro Ikponmwosa, a Medical Certificate concluded that he died of head injuries.
Sergeant Calvin Amory of the Traffic Department disclosed yesterday (Mar. 5) that the Medical Certificate, which was issued on February 27, indicated that Ikponmwosa died due to severe head injuries sustained as a result of the accident in which he was involved.
Ikponmwosa, who resided at Ocean Gardens and was a student of the Windsor University, lost his life last Tuesday (Feb. 26) following a traffic accident that occurred along the Island’s Main Road in the vicinity of the Land Fill in Conaree.
He was transported to the JNF General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
SGT Amory is reminding persons to exercise caution when using the road and be mindful of the speed limits.
He is further reminding motorists that the speed limit in built-up (residential) areas is 20 MPH and non-built-up (outskirts) areas 40 MPH.
He advised, however, that motorist should drive below the stipulated speed limit in adverse weather conditions or if there are workmen on the road.
"Once persons comply with this, we believe there would be a reduction in these serious accidents," he said.
