BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE athletes of Orange House have once again demonstrated their superiority in track and field events, as they emerged champions at the Tucker Clarke Primary School’s Sports Day held yesterday (Mar. 6) at the Newtown Playfield.
THE dominance of orange House was maintained at the Tucker Clarke Primary School yesterday (Mar. 6) as they emerged victorious at the School’s annual Sports Day with a total of 1135points.
The annual activity, which Orange House over the past 10 years with the exception of 2012, commenced with a March Pass led by the Defence Force Drum Cops, followed by an inspection of the athletes by a long-serving teacher of the school named Mrs. Caines, who was also the event’s Guest of Honour.
Caines also motivated the athletes with a few words before the start of the races, and reminded the participants that they were ambassadors of the learning institution and to perform at the best of their abilities.
The points standing before the start of the Sports Day saw a very close competition brewing between Orange House and Blue House. Both Houses were tied on points.
From the opening races of the meet, Orange House took a commanding lead over the others before being pegged back by Blue House.
The close completion continued right into the final races which saw Orange Houses still boasting a slender lead.
Many parents were present to see the students battle for supremacy, as they were adorned in the colors of the Houses they supported.
The Most Outstanding Athlete was Dario Esdaille of Orange House, who won himself three gold medals on the previous day.
He assisted his House in totalling 1 135 points to regain the title, while Blue House occupied the First Runner-up spot with 1 108, followed by Green House with 1 002 and Red House in the cellar with 922 points.
Judging from the performances witnessed yesterday, many spectators are of the view that the athletes from Tucker Clarke Primary School would be a force to reckon with at the upcoming RAMS Inter-Primary School Championships which will be held at the Silver Jubilee Stadium.
