BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ATHLETES of Cayon High School’s Blue House were in celebratory mood Thursday evening (Mar. 7) as they were adjudged the 2013 champions of the school’s Sports Day.
A March Pass got the afternoon's activities underway where the athletes of all four House were on show.
In front of hundreds who turned out at the St. Mary's Park, the athletes turned in some impressive performances.
The crowd on hand was treated to some track battle among some athletes, which included the feud between Dilllon Williams and Raymond Browne in the 800 and 1500 meter races which was dominated by the latter who was always being challenged by the former.
A battle for supremacy also ensued between Deja Richards and Kevorn Isaac in the sprint events, which saw Isaac running away with the 200 meters but Richards came back to win the 400 meters event.
Going into the 100 meters, many expected a closer race but eventually it was Isaac who distanced himself from his arch rival to lay claim to the event.
On the distaff side, spectators were treated to another battle between Kasey De Costa and Kystal Archibald in the sprint events. De Costa was however victorious in both.
While his fellow competitors were battling for second and third places in the sprint events in which he participated, Craig Connor Jr. won all of them by relatively wide margins.
The day however belonged to Blue House which narrowly edged out Green House to earn bragging rights as Cayon High School’s 2013 Sports Day Champion.
Blue House totalled 194 points and was followed by Gold House on 179, which narrowly whipped Green House by one point, and Red House brought up the rear with 170 points.
With the points scored on the Sports Day which were merged with those gained at the preliminary events, Blue House tallied 1 291, Red House 1 238, Gold House 1 086.5 and Green House 1 032.5.
