BASSETERRE, St. Kits – BEFORE the striking of the 8 O’clock hour yesterday morning (Mar. 18), officers of the Traffic Department and a unit of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned to the scene of an accident that occurred in the Bird Rock area involving a motor omni bus and a motor jeep.
The Traffic Department informed this publication that the jeep, P6046, is owned and was driven by Calvin Taylor of New Pond Site and the passenger bus, H720, was being driven by Leonard Bradshaw of Sandy Point.
H720 was travelling along the Bird Rock Road in the direction of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), with P6046 travelling in the opposite direction.
The Traffic Department indicated that P6046 attempted to make a right turn at the junction that leads to Woodsrite. While doing so, H720 collided with its rear, which caused it to spin before coming to a standstill near a fence that stood several feet from the road on the mountain side.
The driver of P6046 – the lone occupant – was unharmed; so too was the driver of H720.
Two other individuals who were passengers in H720 were taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital by the EMS for medical treatment, but they are reportedly not seriously injured.
Investigations into the incident are being made.
