CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – MANAGEMENT of the ferry service between Cades Bay in Nevis and Major’s Bay in St. Kitts has assured the general public that transportation continues uninterrupted, despite damages caused by the passage of Hurricane Omar some two weeks ago.

Speaking with SKNVibes yesterday (Oct. 30), captain of the Sea Bridge vessels Oretius Jones said that Sea Bridge ll has replaced Sea Bridge l in the transporting of commuters and vehicles between the sister islands.

Jones stated that Sea Bridge l is currently under repairs after it was swept away by the impact of Hurricane Omar from where it was docked to within the vicinity of Oualie Beach Hotel. He also stated that Sea Bridge l would be sea-worthy in approximately one week’s time, but declared at no time would the two vessels be operating together.

This media house also learnt that Sea Bridge ll arrived in Nevis from the USA about a month ago, and Jones confirmed that it is in good shape and is a back-up to the first vessel.

Jones said “excellent service” continues to be offered non-stop and, apart from the recent impact of the storm, it has been uninterrupted for the past 18 months.

He informed that each vessel has the capacity to transport 20 cars and 150-200 passengers, and “we are open to multiple purposes…we offer all sorts of services”.

Meanwhile, SKNVibes was reliably informed that the Sea Hustler is currently ferrying cargo only, as it needs repair work following the impact of Hurricane Omar.
