BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – OVER 100 Caribbean postal workers are currently being hosted by their counterparts from St. Kitts and Nevis to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of ‘The Caribbean Postal Togetherness’.

According to Postmaster General Sandra Davoren, every year postal workers throughout the Caribbean region gather at Easter in a different island to participate in what they called The Caribbean Postal Togetherness.

“This year, the St. Kitts and Nevis Social and Postal Club will be hosting the 25th Anniversary of the Caribbean Postal Togetherness from March 28 to April 1. During this time, we will hold meetings to discuss postal issues, take part in friendly games, provide opportunities for our visitors to enjoy and tour our beautiful islands and, most importantly, we make monetary donations to the less fortunate on the island…the host country.”

Davoren indicated that approximately 125 persons would be participating in this year’s event and they are required to make a financial contribution that would be given to two institutions.

“It is compulsory that each participant donate US $5 to this gesture. Based on the information received we expect a total of 125 persons to contribute. Hence, this year’s donation will be given to the Flamboyant Senior Citizens Home in Nevis and the Cardin Home in St Kitts.”

The Postmaster General explained that the Federation’s post office had formed a club called the St. Kitts and Nevis Social and Cultural Postal Club, which comprises both past and present postal workers.

“This club was formed to help enhance and foster relationships with other postal workers throughout the Caribbean region,” she added.

It is members of this club, she informed, that are hosting this year’s event which marks 25 years since the inception of The Caribbean Postal Togetherness.
