LIME sponsors “Kite-Making Project” for St. Kitts’ youths

Press Release

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, April 2nd, 2013 – Easter season in the Caribbean is well known for family gatherings and speckled skies of zinging kites of all sizes, colours and shapes. In a move to ensure this tradition lives on in St. Kitts, Telecoms Company, LIME partnered with Curvis Jeffers for the ‘Kite-Making Project’.

The Project, which lasted for two weeks, exposed students from Tucker Clarke and Beach Allen Primary Schools to the finer points of kite engineering for optimum flight.

This activity was also used to promote kite-making and kite-flying as part of the country’s rich heritage, as well as to educate youths on the skill of constructing a variety of exceptional kites.

During a brief ceremony, some thirty participants were presented with their hand crafted kites.

LIME’s General Manager David Lake said: “As an active member of the community we know that such traditions are important in helping to preserve our culture and heritage. This is why we are happy to partner with Curvis Jeffers in engaging the youth in this exciting activity. On behalf of team LIME, I want to commend Mr. Jeffers for his inventiveness in coming up with this ‘Kite-Making Project’.”

Mr. Jeffers also uttered gratitude to LIME for its continued support of this project.

“I am very grateful to LIME for coming on board and making this Kite Project a huge success,” expressed Mr. Jeffers.
