BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE St. Kitts Music Festival Local Marketing Committee has a new media limelight ‘face’ in the person of well-known dreadlocked Rastafarian beauty Empress Winnielle Pereira, affectionately known as Tammy.

SKNVibes had an exclusive chit chat with Pereira who seemed very excited about her position on the Committee, which is headed by the newly-appointed Chairperson Kirah Griffin.

This is not the first time that Pereira has been involved with the Music Festival Committee. In 2007 she had volunteered to perform the duties of a Liaison Officer and was assigned to work with Trinidadian Soca artiste Machel Montano.

A popular public figure, Pereira is an accomplished beauty queen, having been crowned the 1997-98 National Carnival Queen. She is also a professional model and a recognised trainer of models locally, regionally and internationally.

Additionally, Pereira is the owner and trainer of Winnielle Model Management (WMM).

Many people would also know her from her short stint as a host on the St. Kitts Visitors Channel.

"I'm really excited for this opportunity and beautiful journey, as I see it. It’s been many years since I have been a part of this major event. And now in its 17th year, I have been invited to be a part of the Local Marketing Committee…a true blessing; and I'm ready for it because this is our thing”, she expressed.

Asked about her duties and responsibilities as a Committee Member, Pereira explained: “I've been appointed the Face of the Local Marketing Team. I’m going to be giving out all the ‘sweetness’ of St. Kitts Music Festival happenings from television to radio interviews. It’s my duty to share the vibes to my people of St. Kitts and Nevis and I am definitely going to enjoy every moment. Being a Committee Member, I will also be working very closely with the other Marketing Committee Members as we plan events and create the hype and vibe for this year’s St. Kitts Music Festival, because the goal is for everyone to come out and have a great time.”

Pereira informed that Music Festival models would be present for yet another year and would be a part of the promotional efforts. These women, she added, would be recruited through a casting call.

“We will be seeking young women who love the island, the St. Kitts Music Festival, love people, are confident and extremely outgoing. Beautiful on the outside as well as the inside is the key when we make our final choices from the casting call that will be hosted very soon. Energy is what we need from these models as we set out to promote our Island and all we have to offer through the hosting of this internationally known Music Festival. It’s all about showcasing all the goodness…seen?”

Asked whether or not she would encourage models from her agency to respond to the casting call, Pereira, with a pleasant giggle, replied, “Of course Winnielle Model Management will be there trying out and I encourage any young woman who knows she has what it takes to join us in promoting this year’s Festival to attend. The journey will be unforgettable and one to be cherished for a lifetime.”

SKNVibes also questioned Pereira about her personal take on the St. Kitts Music Festival.

“It's excellent music! I’ve got a natural love for music. I don't even watch television and don’t care to own one either. Music fills my meditation, so how can I not feel pure positive vibes about the St. Kitts Music Festival? It's an amazing thing that we have, and 17 years later we’re still going strong.

Yes I love it and I'm very proud of it and definitely going to enjoy this journey to the maximum. St Kitts Music Festival…me ready! I send many thanks to those who chose to invite me to share my skill, knowledge and good vibes to this exceptional event. Blessings unto this year’s SKMF from me Winnielle.”

The upcoming 17th annual St. Kitts Music Festival is scheduled to take place at the Warner Park Stadium from June 27 to 29.
