BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (FEBRUARY 2004) – The professionalism of St. Kitts and Nevis’ Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Robert Jeffers and two other officers, has come in for high praise.
Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn and Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, Mr. Mark Rosen, in a letter to Commissioner of Police, Mr. Calvin Fahie, praised the assistance given to him and his wife on the death of her father, John Malaspina, who died as a result of a fire at his home in Conaree.
Deputy Commissioner Jeffers, Inspector Sydwin Browne and Corporal Charles Smithen, investigated the fire and cause of death of Malaspina.
“We were treated in a way that went beyond our greatest expectations. They managed to ease the most painful of life’s experiences,” said Rosen, in his letter which was also copied to St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. the Hon. Denzil L. Douglas and Vice Consul of the United States Embassy, Evangeline L. Baker.
Mr. Rosen wrote “we were deeply touched and told everyone we know of this demonstration at professional kindness and humanity. Our only wish is that we could do more to say thank you, for it seems so inadequate.”
Mr. Rosen said that in his 30 years of practice, he has not “encountered more professional people in law enforcement.”
“You are fortunate to have such individuals in your employ and the people of St. Kitts should be comforted that these gentlemen are tending to their law enforcement needs,” said Rosen. |
