BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - HER chaperone describes her body as a “designer’s dream”; and by winning all of the judged Swimsuit segments, it is quite obvious that she ‘worked’ her beautiful body in her dominating designs that landed her the crown.

She is 20-year-old Patricia Clarke from Saddlers who was recently crowned the 2013 LIME Black San Swimsuit Queen.

With an overall score of 1 075 points, Clarke won Vintage Wear with 194, 190 for Best Creative Wear, 194 for Best  Carib Black and Yellow Swimwear, 141 for Best Identical Swimwear, and 196 for Best Body Paint.

SKNVibes spoke exclusively with Clarke’s Chaperone Dwayne Weekes from Sandy Point - the town of the Black San festivity.

Notably, Weekes is a popular figure involved with pageantry in St. Kitts-Nevis.

Clarke is slimly built and stands at five feet, nine inches.

Weekes was asked whether or not working with his client’s physique was challenging or welcoming when it came to designing her swimwear.

“Working with Pat's physique was a pleasure. I welcomed it! Her body is a designer's dream. Most of my sketches are little more voluptuous, but I relished her height”, he stated with a wide grin.

Weekes highlighted the respective work that went into creating the swimsuit pieces, including the identical swimsuits for all five contestants which were designed and made by Faith Benjamin from Cayon.

He said the vintage and body paint suits that decorated Weekes’ designer’s dream body were done by Sanara Bussue.

As for the Carib Black and Yellow swimsuit, which was also fashionable fixed by him, was bought from Sun Island Clothes.

“The Carib Black and Yellow suit was started by Sun island clothes, but I had to complete it.”

Additionally, for the creative piece, Weekes was assisted by two friends, Erian Jeffers and Nikk-e Greene, “with its crunch-time decoration”.

Responding to comments Many critics opined that Weekes took some risks with some of the swimsuit pieces, and when asked whether or not that was the case, he responded:

“I won't categorize it as risky, but I did endeavor to bring something fresh to the table. I guess my muse was working overtime and communicated clearly because the ideas just seem to flow ccreative suit, but again I was aiming more for fresh and I knew it was a goal we could meet.

Weekes was asked if he has a favourite swimsuit from Clarke’s winning collection.

“A favorite would be hard to come by. They all had elements that are pleasing and pieces of me from their color, to their cut and material. It’s really difficult to choose. I can't. I love them all”! he expressed.

Weekes said preparations leading up to the show “were smooth and adequate for the most part”.

He went on to say that “There were some hick-ups closer to the show…not on our end or as a result of what we did, but I was not worried. I had faith that things will work out in the end. It made no sense for us to stress about things that were out of our hands”.

Weekes shared that he has been involved in pageants for a lot of years and he even recalled playing mock shoes during his childhood days.

“I've been involved in pageants for years, wearing different hats. It probably goes to the playground, hosting neighborhood mock shows; more likely over 15 years”.

Weekes chaperoned the first Miss Black San Swimsuit Queen, Roslyn Berkeley, back in 2011.
