BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – OPERATION Rescue’s public meeting – scheduled to be held this evening at Greenland’s Park – is expected to feature a female – the first to speak on that platform.
And according to the movement’s founder, Dwyer Astaphan, she is expected to reveal some “earth-shattering” information for the public’s digestion.
Speaking with this publication earlier today, Astaphan explained that the lady – whom he said is neither a politician nor a political aspirant – gave an undertaking to appear on Operation’s Rescue’s platform this evening.
He said in the past others had volunteered to speak on that platform but they did not for one reason or another.
“We have information that we will be sharing with the public tonight and we are hoping to have our first female speaker. There is a lot of fear in this country and this particular lady gave us the undertaking a few days ago that she would speak tonight and we are looking forward to her. And she is standing as the icebreaker for more females to come to the platform to take more of a lead from that aspect…especially seeing that the one woman who is on a platform in politics in the country has been such a major disappoint to all, including the women of this country.
“We have had ladies before who have said they would come forward and they have been afraid and backed down at the last moment. Their families told them they should not put themselves out there because people are very vicious…”
He explained that the meeting is part of the movement’s thrust to encourage healthy and robust debate among persons within the Federation.
“The Operation Rescue is focussed on raising the level of debate in this country. The importance of doing so is reinforced by the utter garbage that is coming from the platform of the ruling party; particularly from the mouth of the leader of the country who has broken his own record for crudeness and vulgarity and utter disregard for the high office which was entrusted to him by the people of this country.”
Among the speakers who are expected to make presentations this evening are Douglas Watley, Washington ‘Washie’ Archibald, Astaphan and Carlton Dupont.
The topical Budget 2013 Bill – which is expected to be tabled tomorrow in the Federal Parliament – along with the pending Motion of No Confidence are among the issues that will be discussed.
“We are asking the public not just to sit back in their homes and listen, but also to come and park their vehicles on Greenlands Parks and listen to and participate in a good discussion of the issues.”
