Premier O’Neal Congratulates USA President– Elect Obama

~~Adz:Right~~ Roadtown, Tortola - Premier Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE today congratulated President-Elect of the United States of America, Barack Obama, describing his electoral success as a “convincing victory.”

In a congratulatory letter to Mr. Obama, Premier O’Neal said “the whole world is watching but we are all convinced that this is indeed your appointed time to be a transformational leader.”

Honourable O’Neal added that the support “garnered from all segments of the population is commendable and indeed a testament of your inclusiveness.” He added that it is also “a compliment to your campaign’s impressive team work.”

He offered the prayers of residents of the Territory as Mr. Obama prepares to assume his role as the 44th President of the United States. “Rest assured that the people of the British Virgin Islands will continue to pray for your divine protection and wisdom as you begin your transition and presidency.”

The Premier also extended an invitation for the President-Elect to visit the BVI. “As a tribute to your historic election and as the Territory’s Tourism Minister, I would like to extend an invitation to you and your family to holiday in Nature’s Little Secrets as guests of the Government.  I recognise that you fought a good fight and the BVI will be the perfect backdrop for a well-deserved break.”

Not forgetting the bittersweet nature of Mr. Obama’s victory, the Premier extended condolences on the passing of his “dearly beloved grandmother.”
