BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - “Wheda five people yah or 10 people yah…leh we  party,” was what one male patron said to his friend at  ‘Party We A Party’, which concluded shortly after 5:00 a.m. this morning (Apr. 14) at Atlantic 7 (formerly Club NV) in Keys Village.

The event was organised by Boss Entertainment and was promoted as DJ Graggy’s Earthday Bash.

On the entertainment  line-up were Leverage Sounds, Tsunami Sounds, Sweet Sister Sensia and  DJ Yardy.

Indeed, despite a small turnout, those in attendance enjoyed themselves to the music provided by the DJs.

SKNVibes spoke with the event’s promoter, J Graggy of Leverage Sounds from Cayon, who informed that the event was held to help raise funds for the Red Cross of which he has been a volunteer for over a decade.

“It wasn’t so much a party for my birthday. I’m a part of the Red Cross and we’re trying to raise some funds to send some persons overseas for a summer camp in June. So I just decided to throw de dance and the money raised going towards the Red Cross really.”

J Graggy said that he has been a member of the Red Cross for about 12 years, noting that it was during the time when he was a student at Cayon Primary School.

Commenting on what he likes about being a Red Cross volunteer, he stated, “I just like to help people.”

Speaking with DJ Graddy shortly before 3:00 a.m., he shared that the turnout was not as good as he expected.

“Well, the turnout ain’t how I expected but it going good still.”

Asked why he said the event was good, DJ Graddy said, “Well, everybody enjoying deyself. That’s the most important thing.”

He shared that he has been a DJ for about five years and that it started in high school.

“I’m just kinda getting out there now. It takes a little time, you done know; cause the bigger people getting the work right now. So I just start to get a little work here and there”, DJ Graggy remarked.

Every Sunday he plays at Coopers Bar in Dieppe Bay and he also played at events for the recently concluded BLACK SAN’ Bang-a-Lang Festivity as well as “couple other parties around the place”.

Although the event was promoted as his birthday bash, he revealed that his grandfather, Victor Dore from Molineux, had died on his 13th birthday.

“He was one of the closest persons to me, so I don’t really celebrate birthdays too much”, he added.

DJ Graggy celebrated his 21st birthday on April 7.
