Young Professionals Have Opportunity to Work in Paris

~~Adz:Left~~ Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 5, 2008 (SKNIS):
Young professionals in St. Kitts and Nevis have an opportunity to gain employment at the head office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific Organization in Paris in 2009.

UNESCO’s intention to improve the geographical representation in the secretariat by employing persons from non-represented or under-represented territories has opened up the prospect of St. Kitts/Nevis nationals gaining employment there.

One of UNESCO’s objectives is to rejuvenate the staff by adding young, ambitious, innovative and resourceful university graduates under the age of thirty to its more experienced and long standing members.

Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO Antonio Maynard said, “One of the goals is also to increase the representation of women at UNESCO as well.”

Commenting on the victory of President Elect of the United States Barack Obama, Maynard added that he expected to see a high level of interest shown in applying for the UNESCO post.

He said he hoped that this precedent of achievement against all odds which has been set by Senator Obama should lend great inspiration to young people who want to excel and to accomplish the impossible.

Individuals who meet the fore mentioned requirements, possessing degrees in Education, Environmental Sciences, Political Sciences, Information Science, Finance, Communications or International Relations will be allowed to complete the application form.

Selection will be based on excellence, achievement and commitment to UNESCO’s mandate.

Forms can be collected at the UNESCO Secretariat at the Education Annex, Greenlands or call 466-8581 for further information.
