SKNABA will not tolerate malicious remarks via social media

By: SKNABA, Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts Monday 15th April 2013  --   The St. Kitts Nevis Amateur Basketball Association suspended Taslin Hodge of the iRep Challengers Basketball Club and has cautioned Head Coach Sean Crossley of the Rams Sandy Point Fruta Falcons Basketball Club.

The coaches and club officials of Taslin Hodge were notified of pending suspensions for conduct unbecoming.
Rules and Regulations specifically state that general verbal abuse and threatening abuse of any official in SKNABA carries automatic suspensions. Taslin Hodge’s second infraction, threating abuse was displayed for the public to see via the official page of the association.

The executive will not tolerate players, officials, executive members and or team management using this medium to air their “dirty laundry” or to “kick dirt” on the office of this organization. The growing trend by players in St. Kitts and in Nevis using the social media pages of the committees will not be permitted and will be stomped out, there are other mediums and channels where grievances can be aired and heard.

The punishment being administered to Taslin Hodge is automatic (2) two games suspension for General Verbal Abuse of a SKNABA official and automatic (3) game suspension for Threating Abuse to a SKNABA official and his conduct will be reviewed before the disciplinary committee. He therefore will be ineligible for play for the next upcoming (5) five games.

It is the position of the Games Committee and the S. K. N. A. B. A. Executive to promote players safety, fair play, and the integrity of the game is adhered to and consistently enforced. We urge players too swiftly from a Players Association and have their voices heard as it is obvious the management of teams are not getting their messages across.

Saying is not doing, players have for many years stated the need for their own association and to this date have not made any efforts to establish a committee. The theme for the 2013 season “It is a WE thing” was decided upon by members of the association, we seek to carry out this theme unswervingly and insist players who are very integral to the operations of this league uphold and observe to it.
