Second supermarket robbed in five days

~~Adz:Right~~ ROAD TOWN, Tortola-RESIDENTS still reeling from the daring armed robbery of the Rite Way Supermarket in Road Town last Saturday (Nov. 1) were sent for another spin last night (Nov. 6) as Bobby’s Supermarket in Cane Garden Bay suffered a similar fate.

Five customers and three employees in the store at approximately 6:15 p.m. reported seeing two men with white stockings over their faces burst into the store, flash a gun in the face of the cashier and demand money from the register.

With no security on duty at the store, the cashier had little choice but to hand the money over to the robbers, who then dashed outside and made their escape in a Suzuki Samurai Jeep.

The witnesses further stated that the getaway vehicle had no license plates on it. BVI Platinum News spoke to witnesses on the scene who claimed that the entire incident lasted no longer than four minutes.

The November 1 robbery of the Rite Way Supermarket took place in a similar fashion, with two armed men storming the establishment, grabbing cash quickly and making an escape on foot. Royal Virgin Island Police officials, however, have not stated whether or a not a connection between the two incidents has been made at this time.

No arrests have been made in either case, though the Police stated they will be dedicating extra manpower to curb the rise in violent crimes in the Territory.
