BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THIRTEEN budding entrepreneurs have successfully completed the Third Phase of the Small Entrepreneur and Enterprise Development’s (SEED) Boot Camp which ended yesterday (Apr. 19) following three weeks of training.

In his report at the closing ceremony held in the conference room of the St. Kitts Cooperative Credit Union, Boot Camp Coordinator Denzil Crooke said the three-week training was an exciting one and he remembered the apprehension seen on the participants’ faces when the camp commenced.

He also stated that what emerged from the nervousness depicted by the participants was a passion for business and he had encouraged them to never let fear deter them from achieving their goals.

He thanked all the presenters who contributed to the programme on the varying topics and also congratulated the participants on completing their first phase of entrepreneurship.

Crooke however warned the participants not to let their weaknesses go unaddressed and stated that their lives would change forever whether or not they make it as entrepreneur.

One of the participants, Pierre Bowrin, made reference to Robert Frost’s poem – ‘The Road’ – in describing the time they spent at the camp.

He implied that now they have reached the end of the camp, they are now aware what the challenges are in having an enterprise, noting that it has strengthened, impacted and transformed them.

SIDF Councillor Ambassador Rosalyn Hazelle presented the participants with their certificates and expressed the hope that they were indeed transformed, while stating that she believed that they had overcome their fears.

She also hoped that their ventures would make it through the incubation phase and commended them on developing a wide range of businesses. She further hailed them for “thinking outside of the box”.

The SEED project is geared towards the promotion of small business enterprises within the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and is being administered in two stages.

The first is the Boot Camp or Development Stage and the second has been dubbed the Incubation Stage. During the latter, participants would be required to get their businesses up and running.
