BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – VETERAN journalist Howell Richard Bramble was yesterday (Apr. 21) laid to rest in his homeland, Montserrat.

Following an ailment for which he was briefly hospitalised, Bramble died in Nevis, his adopted home, on Saturday (Apr. 13).

Known for his acute mental discernment and keen practical sense in the business world, the 78-year-old had made a name for himself in the field of journalism and also as a hotelier.

He was the owner of The Mirror newspaper in Montserrat and the St. Kitts-Nevis Leewards Times of which he was also its Editor.

Born into a very prominent Caribbean family, Bramble was the son of the late William Henry Bramble, Montserrat’s first Chief Minister, and the brother of that territory’s second Chief Minister, Percival Austin Bramble.

He was the Vice President of the St. Kitts-Nevis Media Association and was known for his hard-line policy on getting answers to questions at press conferences, particularly those held by the Office of the Prime Minister.

The management and staff of SKNVibes join with the members of the St. Kitts-Nevis Media Association and the nation in extending sincere condolences to Howell Richard Bramble’s wife Ruby Wade-Bramble, his brother and all other relatives and friends on his passing.
