BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - NEW sponsors of the Garden Hotspurs Football Club, Hobson Enterprises has been promised trophies as the club embarks on a new sponsorship partnership of $15 000 with the business entity.

President of the Garden Hotspurs Football Club Ras Dabo Penny made the promise today (Apr. 23) at a sponsorship announcement ceremony held at the Garden’s Football Stadium.

“We guarantee you one thing though...trophies. Trophies don’t always come in what you see in the trophy case at the end of a season. The trophies are the youths that we get to save from going down the deep end within our area, because our area has been plagued with such and our youth footballers return youths from going out of line.”

Penny said that when the youths go to the Gardens there are many individuals to guide them along the right path.

“But every life that we could save, that is some of our trophies. So we are glad to partner with Hobson Enterprises in this most noble endeavour as we chart the future of our youths,” he added.

Penny stated that the morning’s proceedings signified a very important step in the history of Garden Hotspurs.

“As we embark upon our 51st year of endeavour, we are glad to share the spotlight with an indigenous brand of St. Kitts - Hobson Enterprises. We have known the Hobson family all our lives and it is only fitting that they come home now and invest the money home amongst us.”

Managing Director of Hobson Enterprises, Damien Hobson stated that today (Apr. 23) would be recorded as another great achievement in the football club’s existence.

“For five decades the struggles you have endured, it is imperative that we in the cooperate sector not only do everything possible to applaud the outstanding achievements but also provide the much needed financial and other support of this long standing pillar of the McKnight community.

“I am certain that the national community is very proud of all that you have accomplished since the 1960s and all you continue to achieve in this the 21st century. On behalf of the Directors, management and staff of Hobson Enterprises, your new sponsor, I extend our most heartfelt congratulations.”

He added that the partnership between the two entities was “always a reality waiting its time in destiny”.

“This is a relationship that was always natural. Hobson Enterprise itself has had a long involvement in sports and sponsorship,” Hobson said.

Dexter Tyrell of the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) expressed that body’s pleasure to see another business entity contributing to football.

“The SKNFA is indeed pleased and we want to say how happy we are to have yet another corporate sponsor coming on board not just in football, but overall to support  the development of youths here in St. Kitts. I want to, from the start, congratulate and to commend Hobson Enterprises for coming on board.”

He added, “I want to say that sponsorship is not just a sponsorship, it is a partnership with you and Garden Hotspurs and Hobson’s Enterprises. And so they expect the team to perform and they expect that you guys will carry yourself well in the community and be good role models. When people attach their name to clubs they expect the best.”

The sponsorship cheque of $11 000 was handed over to Penny as well as a washing machine to be used by the club.
