BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE reigning Caribbean Culture Queen, 22-year-old Treveicia Adams, will be representing the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis in the upcoming eighth annual Miss Caribbean World Pageant.

The pageant is scheduled to take place at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Tortola, British Virgin Islands (BVI) on Saturday, May 4.

Adams, affectionately known as Barbie, is expected to go up against a field of 11 competitors from the BVI, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Dominica, Cuba, St. Croix, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago and the USA, who are all expected to arrive in Tortola next Tuesday (Apr. 30).

She is being chaperoned by older sister Janet Johnson, former Miss Green Valley Queen, and former National Carnival Queen Haley Cassius.

SKNVibes recently had an exclusive chat with Adams.

She disclosed that the organiser of the Miss Caribbean World Pageant, Alecia Hamm, had asked her “a while back” to participate in the event and she had taken some time to make up her mind about it.

When asked what persons can expect from her participation, she responded: “That I shall do my best as usual as I represent St. Kitts and Nevis and hopefully bring home the crown. But most of all, enjoy the experience.”

She revealed that her participation in the pageant comes under personal expenses.

She however thanked the organiser of the Miss Caribbean Culture Pageant, Randy Jeffers, for the assistance in part “sponsorship and moral support”.

Adams pointed to the challenges of being “on my own” in relation to not having a full sponsorship backing when questioned by this media house about how preparations have been going thus far.

The young beauty confessed that it has been “a bit challenging”.

Adams extends a heartfelt “thank you” to her two chaperones as well as to Dr. Ken Ballentyne, Merlese Adams of the St. Kitts Cooperative Credit Union, Calvin Tobias, Karl Williams of Uzuri International Designs Ltd. in Jamaica, Alphonso Henry, Clarissa Harris and Ian Phipps.

Apart from being crowned the 2012 Caribbean Culture Queen, Adams had placed Second Runner-up in the 2012 Jamzone International Queen Pageant held in Guyana, First Runner-up in the 2011 National Carnival Queen Pageant and in 2008 she had won the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College’s Miss Back to Roots.

The reigning Miss Caribbean World is Dominican Nadira Lando and the First Runner-up is BVI’s Abigail Hyndman.
