Business and Professional Women Club in St. Kitts Reactivated

By: BPW, Press Release

April 24th, 2013   --  After a period of dormancy, the Business and Professional Women Club (BPW) has been reactivated and the registration renewed with BPW International. Under the guidance of founding president and stalwart, Ms. Pamella Wall and other former members including Mrs. Euphemia Bryce-Roberts and Mrs. Jovil Rogers, an Annual General Meeting was held earlier this month at which a governing board was elected to serve for the upcoming year. The aim of the club remains the same as its international affiliated which is to develop professional and leadership potential for women at all levels.

Ms. Dawne Williams was elected President and is supported by a dynamic group of women from the business and professional arena including:

    Nisharma Rattan-Mack, Vice President

    Corliss Charles-Sutton - Treasurer

    Patricia Welsh-Haynes, Secretary

    Goldha Franks, Assistant Secretary

    Johan Kelly, Public Relations

Pamella Wall, Jovil Rogers and Christine Walwyn as floor members

The rejuvenated club has attracted just over 30 new members which can be credited to the work done by Ms. Williams over the past few months and continues its membership drive to attract business and professional women in the community to this esteemed organization. The basic tenets of BPW are founded on education, equal opportunity, and personal development and the organization provides opportunities for networking locally, regionally and internationally.

The President who has enjoyed a distinguished career in Regional Banking indicated that she is extremely pleased to be leading the BPW at this stage and look forward to working with the new executive to chart a new path, based on the original foundation, and incorporating the current technological and modern advances available.

She voiced her satisfaction with the diverse group that BPW has attracted and stated that the goal this time around is to ensure for continuity and succession planning that members are recruited from different generations. Under her leadership the club plans to raise the attention given to “Violence against Women” and to seek out new opportunities for personal development of all it members.

BPW meets the second Wednesday in every month. Further information on BPW can be found at facebook/bpwstkitts.kn or by calling 869-762-2611.
