By: SKNIS, Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, April 25, 2013 (SKNIS): The Washington-based Embassy of St. Kitts and Nevis is pursuing a number of business opportunities that arose from participation in the recent 2nd Annual WETATi (Women Empowered to Achieve the impossible) International Women’s Conference.

Ambassador to the United States Her Excellency Jacinth Henry-Martin participated in the two-day meetings where the twin-island Federation was promoted as a travel and investment destination to hundreds of prominent persons from the United States, Africa and the Caribbean.

St. Kitts and Nevis was highlighted as an excellent venue to host a conference of this magnitude given the expanding past successes including the 2006 International Whaling Commission meeting and 2011 UNESCO Caribbean Conference on Climate Change Adaptation and Ethical Principles.

Officials from the Embassy and WETATi President Margaret Dureke have already begun discussions in this regard. Other exciting opportunities are also being pursued.

“We would so love for the Ambassador [Henry-Martin] to participate in our 2014 conference as well,” said President Dureke, when commenting on the presentation of the St. Kitts and Nevis diplomat. “She embraced everything we are about and did not miss one session. She was there from the beginning til the end. I am sure many who attended have also developed a love for St. Kitts and Nevis and desiring to experience these lovely islands. I know, because I am one of them!”

During the WETATi Gala and Ball, an award for Excellence in Diplomacy was presented to Ambassador Henry-Martin for her outreach and commitment to representing [St. Kitts and Nevis] in the United States of America.
