BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - TWO men were each sentenced to serve three years behind bars, with one of them having pleaded guilty and the other found guilty of the crimes for which they were charged.

The men, Akeem Foster and Jasper Qvist were charged with burglary and rape respectively.

It was reported that on the evening of August 2, 2012, Foster broke into the house of Thomas Johnson at Ramsbury Site with the intent to steal.

He was originally charged with robbery and burglary but pleaded guilty to the latter charge early in the Assizes and the prosecution dropped the former.

The 19-year-old appeared before His Lordship Justice John Benjamin QC last Thursday (Apr. 25) at the Nevis Circuit Court where he was sentenced to three years behind bars.

Qvist was found guilty by a 12-member jury last Thursday of raping a female on August 11, 2012 at Nelsons Spring.

His case began last Wednesday (Apr. 24) and following his guilty verdict he too was given a three-year prison sentence.
