BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – On a day usually spent in religious worship and quiet relaxation, the criminal elements of the country were in rare form as Police responded to two separate shooting incidents this past Sunday (Nov. 9).

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has informed that it is making investigations into the shooting incidents, one at Saddlers and another at Buckleys Site.

In the latter case, at about 1:30 on that morning, “two young men were shot at by two unknown males from a passing vehicle while approaching the main road from Caribbean Cinemas Parking lot at Buckley’s Site.”

A Lime Kiln resident, police informed, was shot in the chest and was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he was “treated and detained”. The 19-year-old male was released from the medical facility yesterday (Nov 10.) as the bullet had apparently passed through his body without rupturing any major arteries.

SKNVibes spoke to family and friends of the youth who claim he was a quiet boy with no known ‘criminal affiliation’.

The second incident took place little more than four hours after during which, “Samuel Eddy of Saddlers Village, owner of Railway Bar, received a gunshot to the left portion of his buttock after several shots were fired from some nearby bushes toward the bar. Eddy was transported to the hospital where he received treatment and is detained.”

SKNVibes also caught wind of a gun-related incident which took place on Fort Street, Basseterre sometime during the afternoon hours of Friday, November 7.

Information reaching this media house indicated that some time during the afternoon, an armed male ran up Fort Street, and while on the stretch of road between Central and Cayon Streets, pointed the gun at an individual before fleeing the scene on foot.~~Adz:Right~~

Meanwhile, on Saturday, November 8, police on both St. Kitts and Nevis conducted stop and search operations which resulted in drug finds.

The St. Kitts operations took place in the Basseterre area for “illegal drugs, arms and ammunition” during which several individuals and vehicles were searched.

Police reports indicate that a quantity of marijuana was found under a vehicle and was taken into police custody. No one has been held accountable for the find.

During the operations held in Nevis, St. Peters, St. Kitts resident Prince Henry “was stopped and searched and a quantity of cannabis was found in his possession”.

The drugs and Henry were taken into custody and he was subsequently charged with “possession of cannabis” and “possession of cannabis with intent to supply”.
